Mission Statement

Working one-on-one with a client, a volunteer explains and makes personal the steps in making good decisions. Clients decide on a goal that is important to them, and use the decisional process with their volunteer to reach that goal. Each cycle of ten weeks also includes three group classes.

To:

Build the decision-making and problem solving skills of those people who are under the supervision of the Delaware Department of Corrections

In a way that:

  • Teaches and personalizes the Thresholds decision making material,

  • Creates a learning and rewarding experience for both the student and Thresholds teachers,

  • Co-exists and compliments other prison programs targeted to the same client base,

  • Maintains the integrity and creditability of the Thresholds program,

  • Creates awareness of the efforts and benefits of Thresholds to Delaware Correctional Institutions and the community,

So that:

Clients take personal and responsible control of their lives for the benefit of themselves, their family and their community.
